Homemade Honey Face Wash – for acne prone skin!

As stated in a previous post, I have always had acne prone skin. After trying face wash after face wash with no results, I decided to make my own! It takes five minutes to make, and gave me fantastic results!

a few things about the ingredients:

Coconut oil hydrates, repairs skin, and deep cleans your pores without adding too much extra oil. I usually buy this one, but I got the one in the picture from Walmart.

Jojoba oil improves dryness, skin texture, and acts as an anti-aging oil.

Raw apple cider vinegar is a natural astringent, antibacterial, and antifungal substance, balances pH, fights wrinkles, and removes toxins.

Tea tree oil soothes flaky skin and treats acne, and is a natural astringent.

Live probiotics act as an anti-inflammatory, and can also work as an antimicrobial. This is only what they can do on the OUTSIDE. Be sure to take a daily probiotic because poor gut health will show on your face. In my opinion, this one is the best on the market!

Raw honey is an amazing antibacterial, fights acne, and is a gentle, moisturizing cleanser. I got this one from Walmart!img_7966

Honey Face Wash

  • 2 TBSP organic, cold pressed Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 1 TBSP Jojoba Oil
  • 1 TBSP ACV
  • 20 drops Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca)
  • 2 capsules live probiotics
  • 4 TBSP raw honey

Mix in the order written above, and make sure to blend well! It will thicken slightly as it cools, due to the coconut oil returning to its natural solid state.

Massage a generous amount into your skin for 2-3 minutes, then put a hot washcloth on your face to open your pores and draw out any impurities. after 15-30 seconds, wipe off excess and splash your face with room temperature water.

Many people are actually nervous using oil to clean their faces (weren’t we told all our lives that too much oil is the cause of acne?). Actually, when your skin is too DRY it can cause that overproduction of sebum, so your want your skin to stay moisturized. It also helps remove the makeup and impurities while leaving your face soft and supple.

Because you are using live probiotics, it will actually “grow” and change texture. This is completely normal, and it doesn’t mean it has gone bad or expired. Each batch lasts about 20 days or so for me, and I have never encountered any problems. It may start to smell like yogurt, but once again, this is the live probiotics you are smelling. It is working to kill the bad bacteria on your face, while replenishing the good bacteria at the same time!

I can’t wait to hear how your face feels after using it yourself!

Glass! I reuse small little mason jars for all my facial products.
